About LMBP :

BCCM/LMBP is a node of the Belgian Coordinated Collections of Micro-organisms BCCM (http://www.belspo.be/bccm).

Mission Statement :

BCCM/LMBP aims to share the biological material in its collections, related information, as well as its experience and know-how in the field of fundamental and applied molecular biology to the benefit of its partners and clients in the academic and industrial communities.

BCCM/LMBP therefore combines scientific expertise with quality in service.

Holding :

  • Recombinant plasmids

All publicly available plasmids are described in full molecular detail and are submitted to quality control tests (purity, viability and authenticity (restriction site analysis))

BCCM is financed by Belspo:

Services :

Accession, control, preservation, storage and supply of plasmids and bacterial hosts, incl. related information, in the frame of public deposits, safe deposits and patent deposits are ISO 9001:2008 certified.

Public deposits
are catalogued and publicly available to the broader scientific community. The depositor benefits from an economical and practical means of distributing his material.

  • plasmids, host strains, DNA libraries

Safe deposits
in a supplementary professional environment have proved to be a very cost-effective means of insuring proprietary biological material of particular importance.

  • genetic material, recombinant or not, cloned in a host or as isolated material (e.g. plasmids)
  • natural or genetically modified human and animal cell lines, including hybridomas

Patent deposits
are a compulsory part of the patent process. Within the framework of the Budapest Treaty and under the auspices of the WIPO, BCCM/LMBP has an IDA status.

  • genetic material, recombinant or not, cloned in a host or as isolated material (e.g. plasmids)
  • natural or genetically modified human and animal cell lines, including hybridomas

Storage of third party’s biological material
BCCM/LMBP accepts for storage of third party’s biological material, any kind of biological material which can be cryopreserved at 4°C, -20°C, -80°C or in liquid nitrogen.

Distribution of biological material
that is publicly available and readily deliverable by BCCM/LMBP on a world-wide basis.

  • plasmids, host strains, DNA libraries

N-glycan profiling
possibility to analyse complex protein glycosylation profiles using the DSA-FACE technique.

  • from serum or other biological samples
